Craps - Online Casino SinpagoreCraps is a common online casino dice game. The game remains one of the most popular casino games in Singapore, due to its simple game play and lack of complicated equipment.

History of Craps

The format behind the game of craps comes from an Old English game named Hazard. Craps is the simplified version of the old game. It is believed that Bernard Xavier Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville first introduced the game in New Orleans. However, his version of craps was flawed in that the players could exploit the casino using fixed dice and taking advantage of the way players can bet with or against the dice thrower. John H. Winn then fixed this problem by proposing the “don’t pass” betting option. This version of craps is the one played in the online casinos today.

How to Play Craps

The player takes turn to roll two dice and the player rolling the dice at any particular round is called the “shooter”. The other players at the table bet on the shooter’s rolls, placing bets on various areas on the craps table that offers payout corresponding to the numbers rolled.

Each round consists of two separate stages: “come out” and “point”. The player begins the round by making one or more “come out” rolls. He continues to make these rolls until he rolls 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, in which the number that he rolls becomes the “point”. The casino dealers then proceed to move an “on” button to the point number to signify the second stage of that round of craps. If the shooter rolls the point number, this provides a win for bets on the pass line. If he rolls a seven, this causes the pass line to lose and signals the end of that particular round of craps.

Craps Terminology

Boxman – the person at the craps table who guards the chips and supervises the dealers

Base dealers – the person at the craps table who stands to either side of the boxman and collects and pays bets

Stickman – the person at the craps table who stands directly across the table from the boxman, takes bets in the center of the table, announces the results of each roll, collects the dice with an elongated wooden stick, and who directs the base dealers to pay winners from bets in the center of the table

Pass Line Bet – the fundamental bet in craps; simply the bet for the shooter to win their point number

Don’t Pass Line Bet – almost the opposite of the pass line bet; a bet for the shooter to not make their point number

Come Bet a come bet is similar to a pass line bet, but is played in two rounds and player bets on the first point number that “comes” from the shooters next roll, regardless of the table’s round
